One Year

One Year BlogAversary

Today, my blog has been up and running for one year! It feels like I was just writing my first post then I blinked and now here I am a year later. It has been a great outlet for me, and even if no one read anything I write I’d still be happy with it. I love going back and reading posts and remembering details of whatever I was writing about on that particular day. This thing has been my (very public) diary throughout my first year of marriage and traveling alongside my baseball playing husband for the first time and I’m grateful for it. But before I go any further I just want to say THANK YOU, thank you, thank you to everyone who has read my words. I hope you all continue to travel along with me on this baseball journey and learn and experience the things I write about as if you were right here next to me the whole time. Going forward, I have some new ideas that I will be testing out in the coming months and I hope you all will enjoy them.

If you were wondering, I haven’t written any new posts for this New Year intentionally just because I knew this (kind of big) day was coming up. So I’m going to do a little fast paced catch up…here we go!

January 1, 2013 – Happy New Year my friends! So excited for what this year has in store. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one!!!

January 7, 2013 – Happy One Year Anniversary to my wonderful husband!!! Our first year of marriage was breathtaking and I can’t wait for the many, many more to come.

Ok. That’s really all the catching up I needed to do. See how thrilling my life is? Exactly.

Spring training is rapidly approaching, but in reality has already begun. Addison has been working out at the Yankee complex since the end of last season since we live so close, but has really been getting back into the groove the last couple of weeks. I’m actually really excited for the season to begin again. Not excited about packing our car with what we can fit and driving to a still unknown destination, leaving our family for six months, sleeping on an air mattress (which I’m crossing my fingers doesn’t have to happen, hah!), and possibly getting to know a whole new city again. But I am excited for the baseball games, being with and watching my husband every day, living in sheer dependency of one another because we only have each other and more cheesy stuff like that :-) . So I say bring on Spring Training 2013, I’m ready for you!

Drum Roll Please…

So after a very long wait…it has been 100% confirmed that we will start the season with the Trenton Thunder, the AA affiliate for the Yankees. We are so excited to have a set destination FINALLY! In two short days we will make the 19 hour drive with our jam-packed car and our little co-pilot, Lili! (This is her…isn’t she a cutie?!) In the past 48 hours or so I have figured out our living arrangements, got our baseball season boxes out of storage, and completely cleaned out our car. Did I mention I’ve been sick throughout this whole process? My immune system decided to take a nap on the job and allow me to get a cold at maybe one of the worst possible times ever! Thankfully I’ve had help through all of this so far, or I might have gotten stuck at the part where I reserved our apartment for the season. So big thank yous go out to : our wonderful soon to be roommates for all the help with the apartment, my sweet mother-in-law for helping me get our junk out of storage, and my loving hubby for helping me clean out the car. We still have LOTS to do so I’m going to make this post short and sweet so I can get back to packing. I’ll be back at blogging next week once we are all settled into our home sweet home away from home!

Just Married…to Baseball

My name is Breanna Maruszak and my husband Addison plays professional baseball. We were just married on January 7, 2012 (happy two week anniversary to us!!!) after dating for more than five years. We met in college back in 2006 at the University of South Florida, and so far we’ve been together through two college baseball seasons, one summer ball season, and four minor league baseball seasons. It’s safe to say that baseball is and always has been a BIG part of our relationship. In this upcoming season I will be, for the very first time, traveling with Addison! I’m very excited to be able to do this and also really nervous because this isn’t going to be a vacation. If you aren’t familiar with it – just to fill you in – not too much about minor league baseball is luxurious. They are paid below minimum wage (still haven’t figured out how they manage that), get maybe 2 or 3 “off days” per month, are forced to take long road trips on a bus, and don’t have a say in any of it. But this is me talking. You wouldn’t hear Addison complaining about any of this, because he loves baseball, and his goal just like all of the rest of the minor league baseball players is to make it to the big leagues (there, life should be a little more comfortable ;-) ). Regardless of all that, I consider myself lucky to get to travel with him because it means that I will get to see him on a MUCH more regular basis, so I’m ready for any obstacle that this season is going to bring us. Spring training for us has always been easy because for us it’s pretty much where we live. Addison plays for the Yankees and their spring training/minor league hub is in Tampa, FL and we live in St. Petersburg, FL.We know how lucky we got with that one!! Just before the wedding I left my job in preparation for the upcoming season, and we are currently moving out of our apartment to live with his parents (who also live in St Pete) during spring training so we can save as much money possible before we leave to go to  _________ (TBD). When spring training is over it will be a whole new ball game. We will have just found out for sure where we will start the season, pack up our little Toyota Corolla with as much stuff as we can, and drive to our currently unknown destination. Once we get there we will find a place to call “home” for an uncertain amount of time, probably to be shared with several other players to reduce the cost, and most likely this place will have little to no real furniture (unless you consider air mattresses and a card table real furniture). And those are just the things I’m aware of…there is probably lots more fun stuff I will learn about this life along the way, which is why I’m here. This is my journey through a world filled with uncertainty and plenty of ups and downs, but along side the man I love.

This is my life, being married to baseball!
