We made it! It has been a long past couple of days but now that we are settled in, we are ready to get this baseball season started. But we have to wait until Thursday for opening day. So let me start by telling you all about the past 48 hours or so. On Sunday Addison had practice in the morning before they broke camp, leaving me to get the rest of our stuff all packed up and loaded. Addison’s parents helped me out big time! We ended up having to put a handy topper on my car just to fit our bare minimum essentials (which somehow included Addison’s golf clubs…hmmm). Here is a cute picture of our car all loaded up!
Yea, we know we looked cool cruisin’ down the highway!
Anyways, we ended up getting on the road around 2:00 pm. We drove in a mini caravan with the two other players on his team that we are living with. It was Addison and my original plan to stop on they way up and stay in a hotel to break up the 18 hour drive. But that was scrapped at the last minute because the boys wanted to drive all the way through. Ugh…it was no fun. Just thinking of it again makes me shudder! I didn’t have to drive but I didn’t want to sleep so I could make sure Addison stayed awake and knew where he was going. I did pretty well, and didn’t fall asleep until we got through Baltimore around 4:00 am, even then I was just dozing off and on.
We got to our apartment complex about 6:30 am and we all napped in our cars until the leasing office opened up. It took a couple of hours to get all the paperwork done and the lease sorted out, we joked that we were so tired that we didn’t even have a clue what we were all signing! Our apartment wasn’t completely ready so we ran some errands. At Wal-Mart we were all walking around in a weird delirious state and it’s a good thing we had a list to go by or we probably would have walked out of there with nothing we actually needed. Also, can someone tell me why Wal-Mart is always so obnoxiously busy?! It was noon when we were there but I was getting anxiety from the amount of people I had to dodge just to get some almond milk! But we kept pushing through our sleepiness! Everything got unpacked and put away, and the cable and internet was installed. We miraculously had a couch given to us that is in really good shape.
This is our tv stand in our room. Fancy!
It was a very very long day of errands and unpacking, and I even cooked dinner. After such a long day(s) we were in bed by 7:30, asleep by 8:00. I really don’t think I’ve ever slept so good! I am so thankful to have made it here safely and to be in our apartment. Now I just can’t wait for the games to start…and for Camille to get here so I’m not the only girl living in this place!!!
