Unfinished Business

Hi friends. Hope every one of you had a very happy Thanksgiving. I know I did, I ate twice. But please note that no turkey was harmed in the making of my “Turkey” day ;-) .

I had big plans to do a part two to my “Feeding a Big League Appetite on a Minor League Budget” post but I started it, deleted it, started it again, and then deleted it again. Just wasn’t working out. I also started a post on my favorite books and books that I’m currently reading. Deleted that one too. If you are interested 1)I love all the Harry Potter books more than any other books and re-read them every few years just because 2) Recently finished reading “Game of Thrones”, book one in A Song of Fire and Ice series and I’m hooked 3) I enjoy self help books. (That was basically all I had to go on while writing, so you might see the dilemma I was facing with that post.)

My life as of late has consisted of lots and lots and lots of Christmas crafting. My fingers hurt from the many glue gun burns and the overload of raffia twisting. I’m doing a craft show with my mother in law this Saturday and I’ve been rushing to finish up all my crafts because the husband and myself will be leaving tomorrow to Miami for a conference/mini vacation…which I still need to pack for. So that’s really it for now. I’ll be back sooner rather than later (I think?).

Driving Me Crazy!

I grew up in a tiny little town in Florida. When I say tiny I really, really mean it! Umatilla (pronounced you-muh-til-uh, because everyone who’s never heard of it has no clue how to say it!) only has one stop light, and the average speed limit is probably 25 mph. Needless to say driving in my home town was really laid back, and the only time you encountered any real frustration is when you were late to school and you got stuck behind a tractor going 10 mph. Yes, that did happen to me on several occasions! Moving to Tampa was a huge adjustment for me because driving is a lot more fast paced and risky. After living there for about 5 1/2 years, I got used to it, and would even consider myself a seasoned Bay area driver!

Yet again, I am faced with a whole new driving experience. Here in the North East things are quite different than both my original hometown and my adopted hometown. The roads are designed completely different and there are crazy things like one car underpasses, stop signs instead of merge lanes onto the highway, and they obviously don’t believe in left turns. I seriously think that the joker who designed the roads up here gave a child a piece of paper and some crayons, and told them to “have at it”. Maybe I’m just being judgmental…or maybe I’m not :-) . The drivers here have also been a sore spot for me so far. I know it doesn’t help when I don’t know exactly where I’m going but I wish these people would cut me some slack…it’s not like I’m driving under the speed limit, or riding my brakes. Geesh! So here’s to hoping that I will be able to get used to driving here as quickly as possible.

This is the Calhoun Street Bridge that we have to cross every single day, that is JUST wide enough for two vehicles. I get nervous just thinking about having to cross later today!!

By the way, it’s opening day…Happy Baseball Season!!
